En marcha concurso del US Army para futuro vehículo de combate terrestre/US Army Ground Combat Vehicle Programme Gears Up



Tres meses después de emitir el Requerimiento de Propuestas a los Fabricantes(RFP) para la fase de desarrollo del Vehículo de Combate para Infantería (IFV), desarrollado conjuntamente con el Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV-Vehículo de combate terrestre), los competidores finales son: BAE Systems/Northrop Grumman , General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin y Raytheon MTU Detroit Diesel, así como SAIC, que incluye a Boeing y a dos compañías alemanas, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) y Rheinmetall Defence.
Según el US Army, el GCV debe ser un vehículo con alta capacidad de supervivencia, capaz de transportar nueve hombres en el campo de batalla. Debe diseñarse para operar en un entorno de posible aparición de explosivos (coches bomba, minas). Debe superar a los Bradley en servicio en este aspecto, así como tener la misma movilidad que un carro de combate Abrams campo a través.

Almost three months after the US Army released a request for proposal (RFP) for the technology development phase of the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), developed within the Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) programme, finally these are the competitors are: BAE Systems/Northrop Grumman , the General Dynamics team, and Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and MTU Detroit Diesel, as well as the SAIC-led team which includes Boeing and the two German companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall Defence.
According to the Army, “the first Ground Combat Vehicle will be an Infantry Fighting Vehicle offering a highly-survivable platform for delivering a nine-man infantry squad to the battlefield. The GCV is the first vehicle that will be designed from the ground up to operate in an improvised explosive device (IED) environment. It is envisioned to have greater lethality and ballistic protection than a Bradley, greater IED and mine protection than an MRAP, and the cross country mobility of an Abrams tank.
